Look Up to Get Up! (Psalm 121:1-2)

Saved by Grace!

I was brought up in a church going family, my mother always saw to that. I accepted Jesus Christ at the early age of 10. Through the years as I got away from the Lord. He always kept His finger of love on me and tried to bring me back. Sometimes it took a lot to bring me down to my knees to where I need the Lord and His righteousness. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)

As the years went on, I got farther and farther from the Savior. Not following His plan for my life, but wanting to create my own. I use to do all the things that I should not do. I was drinking, smoking cigarette, and smoking drugs. I was getting closer to satan and not to God. I was not trusting God with my problems. I made a hypocrites oath with God, myself and others. I was going to church and actively living a sinner’s life style instead of a Christian’s life. I kept promising God that I would live for Him. God came through with His promises, but not me.

I use to be a truck driver. One day I had worked really hard to get ahead on my job. I came home and got me something to eat and smoked some drugs and went to bed. I woke up about 2:00 a.m. and stood up. All of a sudden I fell to the floor. I had no feeling on right side, I was paralyzed on the right side of my body. It was like when your leg goes to sleep; only it was not temporary. I tried to wake my wife. When she woke up, I was not able to talk so that it was understandable. She called 9-1-1. This experience really scared me. After this happened to me, I surrendered my life to God and had drawn closer to HIM.

Now, my body is very weak on the right side and is not the same. Although my body is not the same, I am working my right side and it’s getting better along with my voice. I thank God every day for blessing me. This could have been a whole lot worse. I could have been driving one of the big trucks when I had this stroke. But God did not see fit to let that happen. I am truly blessed and I have many reasons to be thankful.

Wisdom speaks to you and me

1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. 9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase. 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. (Proverbs 3:1-10)

In all we do, Father God help us to honor you .

Heart of a Pastor (Jeremiah 3:15)

Your example as a Leader should challenge the Church!

If you, as a Christian leader, are aware that a group of men, women and youth who look to you for inspiration, guidance, and strength, then, by the very nature of things, you should be developed to the point at which you will inspire (not put down), guide (not manipulate), and be a reservoir of strength to your people.

As a Christian leader in the church, you know that your fellow Christians are entitled to the very best you have or the best you can become in Christ. This means that you must pitch your life upon a high level. It means that you must be willing to go beyond the call of duty to help them. It means that you must think well of each member of the church and that you must be zealous for the success of each in the Christian life. When you adopt this view you God will build within you a great resource of power.

A Successful Church LEADER

Speak To People: There is nothing so uplifting as a cheerful word of greeting.

Smile At People: The smile is the universal langue. After all it takes seventy-eight muscles to frown but only fourteen to smile.

Call People By Name: It’s the sweetest music to anyone’s ears. Get to know each member of the church family personally.

Be Friendly and Helpful: If you want to have friends, be one. If you want the Christians to help you, help them.

Be Cordial: Speak and act as if everything you do is a pleasure. The key is to mean it from your heart.

Be Genuinely Interest In People: This is the only way to win their confidence.

Be Considerate: Consider other peoples feelings, it will be appreciated.

Be Thoughtful: Listen to the opinions of others. You can overcome many an argument and win the faithful support of the members.

Be Alert and Give Service: Watch for opportunities to help the members whom you serve. He profits most who serves best.

Be Generous with Praise: Cautious with criticism. Faithful attendance, service, and support in Christian service is worthy of sincere praise.

These are tidbits that God has taught me through the years. I pray that this will help others that are in leadership or on their way to leadership positions. As leaders we sometimes carry a heavy burden and must realize that we are leading GOD’S people not ours and that every one deserves the courtesy of being spoken to, smiled at, called by their name, knowing that you are friendly, cordial, and genuinely interested in them. That you re considerate of their feelings, thoughtful, alert to their situation, ready to serve as well as generous. This does not mean become a door mat or let others run over you, but it takes you back to the basics, when we say, treat others the way you want to be treated or better yet, the way you know Jesus would want you to treat each other...remember: if it’s not in the heart if will eventually show!

Pray without Ceasing! (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

It’s summer time!!! Yes, it’s a beautiful time of year. Boating, bicycling, skate boarding, hiking, climbing, double-dutch, hopscotch, swimming, spending time at the beach, amusement parks, with family and friends. Many people however because of the nice weather, school break, and vacations see this as the time to slack in their relationship with God and in prayer. NOT SO! Now more than ever, we need to PRAY WITHOUT CEASING!

Pray for the condition of our nations. Pray for our cities, counties and states. Pray for leadership in the church and outside of the church. Pray for our youth and young adults. Pray for family unity. Pray for the sick and shut-in. Pray for the lost. Pray for the saints. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Fast so you can Last... (Matthew 17:20-21)

3. The Samuel Fast - “To let the oppressed (physically and spiritually) go free” (Isa. 58:6). For revival and soul winning, to identify with people everywhere enslaved literally or by sin and to pray to be used of God to bring people out of the kingdom of darkness and into God’s marvelous light. Verse: “So they gathered together at Mizpah, drew water, and poured it out before the Lord. And they fasted that day, and said there, We have sinned against the Lord” (1 Sam. 7:6). Samuel led God’s people in a fast to celebrate the return of the Ark of the Covenant from its captivity by the Philistines, and to pray that Israel might be delivered from the sin that allowed the Ark to be captured in the first place.

4. The Elijah Fast - “To break every yoke” (Isa. 58:6). For conquering the mental and emotional problems that would control our lives, and returning the control to the Lord. Verse: “He himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness...He arose and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights” (1 Kings 19:4,8). Although the bible does not call this a formal “fast”, Elijah deliberately went without food when he fled from Queen Jezebel’s threat to kill him. After this, God sent an angel to minister to Elijah in the wilderness.

Binding and Loosing (Matthew 18:18)

Do you have on your Armour? (Part 1)

11Put on the WHOLE ARMOUR of GOD, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle NOT against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the WHOLE ARMOUR of GOD, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 STAND therefore, have your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of GOD. 18 PRAYING ALWAYS with all prayer and supplication to the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” (Ephesians 6:11-18)

It is a poor soldier who goes into battle without his/her protection. Yes, GOD is our protector and protection. However, we have some things that we MUST do...“ACTIVATED FAITH MOVES GOD.” We can not put on part of our Armour and think that we are alright. Each piece of our Armour works with the other, therefore we MUST have the WHOLE ARMOUR of GOD on at all times.

“Stand therefore—hold your ground” (v. 14). Stand in Faith, Stand in Confidence, Don’t Fear, Don’t Worry, Don’t Waver, Don’t listen to the devil or doubters or to your physical senses. Stand on what the Word of GOD says!

Stand in confidence that GOD’s ARMOUR is sufficient to help you defeat the enemy whenever he seeks to establish his will over the will of GOD in your life by deceiving you.

Our ARMOUR is to protect and help us recognize and defuse the wiles, deceptions, tricks and illusions of the devil. Don’t give the devil room to turn his illusions into reality in your life. Believe GOD’s WORD!

Keep standing in faith, using the ARMOUR of GOD and Sword of the Spirit on the devil until he gets discouraged and leaves you alone.
